RAVEN - Overview

RAVEN is a risk evaluation environment for processing of composite materials. At the moment, RAVEN includes modules that allow you to perform thermal analyses at points (a "virtual material" or "0D" analysis) and drill-throughs (a "thermal profile" or "1D" analysis). Additionally, RAVEN allows you to import data from other data sources (through a .csv or .txt file) and compare the imported data against the simulations. RAVEN includes powerful data plotting and inspection tools to assist you in these analyses, as well as "wizards" that makes analysis simple.

RAVEN is a material and thermal analyzer which evaluates the material and thermal process state for different process conditions.

RAVEN is easy-to-use software that allows evaluation of:

  • When in the cure cycle does the material exotherm, gel, vitrify?
  • What is my viscosity profile and how long is my flow window?
  • What is the actual temperature profile inside the component?
  • How is all this affected by the cure cycle, tool design, and autoclave characteristics?

RAVEN allows you to quickly answer these questions, as well as quickly evaluate how all this is affected by the process conditions so that the process can be optimized and processing problems avoided.

To perform a simulation you need the following:

  • RAVEN software
  • Materials database for composite and tooling materials of interest
  • Heat transfer characteristics of autoclave or oven
